AROMA: Medicinal, penetrating, sweet, fresh and clean, eucalyptus like.
QUALITIES: Shares many qualities of eucalyptus, tea tree and cajaput. Niaouli chemo-types show a wide range of activities valuable pharmacologically and medicinally. Effective in a massage rub for easing sore muscles and joints. Vapourise to help with clear breathing especially during the winter months. Add to moisturiser base for skin protection. Traditional uses: The leaves are used to disinfect water. Organically grown: no pesticides or herbicides used. Gathered from trees grown in the wild.
Family Myrtaceae. Geographic distribution: This plant is native to the Molluccas islands. In Madagascar, trees are found in abundance along the eastern coastal streams and swamps. The tree can grow to a height of 10 to 15 meters. Straight, smooth and white trunk. Ringed branches, the youngest are reddish. Ashy green flowers fixed on different levels. The tree has a thick bark.
Chemical constituents identified: a-pinene, ß-pinene, myrcene, a-terpinene, limonene, 1,8-cineole, -terpinene, -cymene, terpinolene, linalool, ß-caryophyllene, a-humulene, a-terpinol, trans-nerolidol, viridiflorol.
